Guest Artists
Periodically, our solutions function guest performers particularly Unitarian Universalist singer-songwriter and activist Joe Jencks and buddy Helena Nash (left). Recent guest artists have included violinist Lynn Mather, sitaristThomas Flanagan, and ballet performers Miranda Lennox and Greg Bomke.
Mark Daugherty: Director of Music since 1983, Mark Daugherty has generated our choir into a highly skilled ensemble and led the congregation to its present musically radiant condition. An honors graduate associated with Eastman School of musical, Mark additionally shows music at Chestnut Hill Academy and Springside class and it is the songs Director at Old York Road Temple Beth Am. Music Ministry: The Music Ministry works with the Minister and musical Director in preparing non-choral songs for chapel solutions and music for summertime services. In addition produces development to minister to musical requirements of chapel users, and special events such as those shown below.
Choir Leadership: The strong basis for our musically radiant congregation, the choir includes a number of our many energetic volunteers. Form 5 hour/week commitment necessary to produce excellent music for solutions, choir users additionally get ready for unique songs services and raise funds to aid preserve our instruments. In addition, many offer on other congregational committees. Existing co-chairs are Andrea Parry and Linda Smith.
Choir: in management of our Music Director, Mark Daugherty, and our four expert soloists, our 40-voice choir sings for many Sunday solutions from September through June. The wide range of selections achieves back into Renaissance and Baroque music—both sacred and secular—and extends to current worship songs situated in classical, modern United states and different globe customs. Instrumentalists, performers and non-choral singers: Opportunities to make songs and party happen throughout the season not merely associated the choir, but in addition doing solos plus in little ensembles (such as our USG Klezmer Band or Medieval songs Ensemble). Through the July-August choir hiatus, the songs Ministry arranges songs for services using gifted artists from our congregation. Past summers have included singer-songwriters, a spirituals group, a Balkan choir, pianists also instrumentalists.
